{"id":84250,"date":"2022-12-26T18:12:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-26T16:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/?p=84250"},"modified":"2024-04-20T22:44:19","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T20:44:19","slug":"la-agricultura-y-el-carbono-como-sacarle-partido","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/en\/la-agricultura-y-el-carbono-como-sacarle-partido\/","title":{"rendered":"Absorbent agriculture and carbon- Sustainability and ecology (1)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph translation-block\"><sub>Agriculture is one of the best ways to mitigate CO<sub>2<\/sub> from the atmosphere and control carbon in the soil. <\/sub><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Agricultural soils and carbon sequestration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that we are giving so much importance to climate change and the greenhouse effect, with the accumulation of gases in the atmosphere, it is important to assess the capture of carbon by the soil or in the biomasses obtained from organic waste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">We already made reference in another article to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/en\/la-huella-del-carbono-y-la-agricultura-de-precision\/\" target=\"_self\">carbon cycle<\/a>, where we commented on the importance of precision agriculture in carbon sequestration and how this cycle can be positive or negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several factors influence this absorption of carbon by agricultural soils:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The type of crop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tillage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The form of irrigation and soil moisture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soil temperature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Farming systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The texture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Influence of the type of crop in absorbent agriculture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CAP 2023-27 aims to fight climate change and seek strategies to achieve it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The importance of the olive grove in the absorption of CO<sub>2<\/sub> is analyzed, it is one of the crops that accumulates the most. We can transfer it to the ground in the form of biomass with the remains of pruning. Vegetable coverages also help prevent it from evaporating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other crops that favor absorption are cereals, legumes and grasslands. Especially important is the use of stubble cover, to preserve the carbon cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tillage<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excessive tillage causes more carbon to be released into the atmosphere from the soil. We must have a balance between the use of stubble and minimum tillage, in those crops that allow it, such as woody ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The covers also conserve moisture and at the same time their nutrients benefit crops and favor biodiversity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The form of irrigation and humidity control<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:22% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/terreno-pedregoso.jpg\" alt=\"Terreno pedregoso\" class=\"wp-image-83148 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Proper irrigation is essential to conserve soil organic carbon (SOC). Provides the plant with a source of nutrients, increasing crop growth. But the fundamental thing is to avoid excess watering. The <strong>control with sensors<\/strong> to <strong>optimize the water <\/strong>of the wet bulb causes the root system to absorb the water and nutrients it needs.
