We will detail how to optimize your irrigation with sensors.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is pitaya?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The Pitaya is a plant of the <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pitahaya\" target=\"_self\"> cactus family <\/a>, with long, triangular stems. Its fruit is tropical, exquisite and pink or yellow. Very sweet and smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Varieties <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pitaya-2.jpg\" alt=\"Pitaya\"><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are basically two varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Una de fruto rojo-fucsia, muy vistoso el fruto pero m\u00e1s delicado y por tanto m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil de transportar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another one with yellow fruit, more resistant and very sweet, improving in flavor to the red one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its delicacy makes cultivation in Spain easy to market in Europe. It is easier for it to reach all markets in good condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cultivation of pitaya in Spain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El clima mediterr\u00e1neo se est\u00e1 convirtiendo en el ideal para el cultivo de la pitaya en Espa\u00f1a.&nbsp; Empezando en Canarias, huelva y M\u00e1laga, ahora es Almer\u00eda la principal productora con grandes invernaderos. Pero su cultivo se estiende por toda la costa mediterr\u00e1nea y Extremadura<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tambi\u00e9n zonas c\u00e1lidas de la costa gallega est\u00e1n explorando este cultivo en invernaderos. Concretamente en el municipio de Xove en la costa lucense experimentan con la variedad hibridum de color fucsia. Por ahora con una s\u00f3la producci\u00f3n de agosto a octubre en contraste con las producciones del sur de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/pitaya-espana-1024x820.png\" alt=\"Pitaya en Espa\u00f1a\" class=\"wp-image-82503\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pitaya en Espa\u00f1a<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almeria farmers are investing in this plant for several reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It needs much less water than other crops such as tomatoes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The consumption of its exotic fruit is fashionable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being a very delicate product for transport, it is important that the cultivation is European, to facilitate its commercialization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Mediterranean climate, especially that of Almer\u00eda, is very conducive to greenhouse cultivation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Almer\u00eda there is a lot of experience in the training that this plant needs to develop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It produces two annual harvests, one from mid-June to December and another from March and April.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading translation-block\">Irrigation controlled with <a href=\"https:\/\/ant.plantae.lavallweb.com\/en\/\" target=\"_self\"> sensors <\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cultivation of pitaya is adapted to dry climates, but a controlled irrigation in two phases is very convenient:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first two years of its growth to form large, leafy plants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the time of
