Our presentation at the III Stone Fruit Congress in Murcia <\/strong> tries to make farmers see that new precision irrigation technologies have reached agriculture and, furthermore, not everything is complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our project is an example of this. You don't have to water by eye. With the mobile or the tablet we can know in real time which irrigation cycles are suitable for our crops, saving water and energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real situation <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is estimated that food production <\/strong> should increase by at least 70% <\/strong> by the year 2050 <\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Europe, the European Environment Agency <\/em> figures that 24% of water consumption <\/strong> goes to agriculture <\/strong>. This digit\nConsumption is uneven in Europe, reaching Spain <\/strong> the figure of 80% <\/strong> of total consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain consumes 24,200 cubic hectometres per year <\/strong>. A part of this water consumption is <\/strong> wasted <\/strong>, mainly\nbecause:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Low optimization <\/strong> in the management of crop water needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Inadequate frequency <\/strong> of irrigation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Low efficiency.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Another objective to bear in mind in the stone fruit trees in Murcia is that they do not tolerate salinity well. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The drip irrigation if not controlled produces an excess of salinity that makes it difficult for the water to be absorbed by the root system of the plant, seriously harming its development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To control salinity it is necessary that the wet bulb be kept with a minimum degree of water, because if all of it evaporates, it makes the salts rise and concentrate them in the surface area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In the next irrigation they drop too much and create a serious problem of excessive salinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Ideally, the proportion of salts should be adjusted to what the plant needs to absorb.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      This control is especially rigorous with Plantae sensors !!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
