DemoCitrus 2026 is a leading event for the citrus sector, focused on technical and technological innovation applied to citrus cultivation. It will be held on January 28 and 29, 2026, at the IFAPA Las Torres Center (Alcalá del Río, Seville) and will bring together producers, technicians, researchers, and companies from the sector to share knowledge, analyze challenges, and showcase solutions that promote the efficiency, sustainability, and profitability of citrus farms
The program combines technical presentations and roundtables with practical demonstrations in experimental plots. These sessions cover topics such as genetic improvement, plant health, robotics, mechanization, digitalization, and crop intensification models, and include a field day with technology in operation.
DemoCitrus 2026 and the participation of Plantae
Plantae's participation on Thursday the 29th at DemoCitrus is a strategic opportunity to showcase its precision agriculture technology to a key professional audience.

Field days
During the field day, and within the technological demonstrations, Plantae's precision agriculture solutions are expected to interact with other cutting-edge systems such as autonomous sprayers, drones, harvesting robots and crop sensors, helping to shape the future of modern citrus farming.
With the IFAPA we have two projects:
- One specifically at the Center, where we installed a weather station and a couple of probes, mainly so that they could show them to the farmers who attend the Center.
- The second project is considerably larger and has academic merit. They are testing different covering meshes or geotextile fabrics to see which perform best in citrus groves. These meshes are essentially used as a smart physical barrier: they allow water and air to pass through, but block light, and without light, weeds cannot germinate or develop. That's the key.
This second project generally serves to:
- Control malas hierbas.
- Moisture retention.
- Thermal regulation.
- They can improve soil structure.
- They reduce maintenance.
These fabrics are also being tested here on a variety of "blood" orange with red-toned pulp, which is supposed to give it antioxidant properties.
